Radio Hour with Boris

For three decades, the legendary Japanese guitar band Boris have explored metal, grunge, punk, shoegaze, ambient, and more. Comprised of Wata on guitar, Takeshi on bass, and Atsuo on drums -with all three sharing lead vocal duty- the band have eschewed expectations at every turn. This year alone, they’ve released two albums: the shoegaze-leaning W, and a hair metal and punk-influenced third installment of their Heavy Rocks series. Wata also just released her own guitar pedal, called “Hizumitas”, via EarthQuaker Devices. The hard-rocking- but soft spoken- trio recently joined host Elia Einhorn via translator to discuss, their whirlwind year; representing the power of rock for the future; and how collaborating with different record labels has impacted their sprawling catalog.
