Radio Hour with Japanese Breakfast
Michelle Zauner is the mastermind behind indie rock sensation Japanese Breakfast, whose forthcoming 3rd LP, Jubilee, is one of the most hotly anticipated releases of the year. In addition to her primary career as a singer-songwriter- multi-instrumentalist -producer, Michelle has hosted a food show for Vice, directed music videos for artists like Better Oblivion Community Center, is currently scoring a video game, and this very week, she’s publishing her first book- the variously hilarious and heartbreaking memoir Crying in H Mart.
Michelle recently joined Radio Hour to talk about world-building in her art, the new sonic territory she explores on Jubilee, the messiness of ordinary life, the ugliness of illness, and turning to cooking as therapy for grief.
