Radio Hour with Lee Scratch Perry

"One of modern music’s most brilliant innovators, Lee Scratch Perry was instrumental in the creation of reggae and then dub. In this special season finale, we celebrate Scratch on the occasion of his 85th birthday. The Upsetter himself joins us to talk about his storied career and spin songs from his earliest days in the game, the golden years of his iconic recording studio The Black Ark, and his most recent collaborations. This week Elia caught up with Scratch from a makeshift studio in the back of a fried fish and dumpling takeaway counter, surrounded by cicadas, in the seaside town of Negril, Jamaica. Together they reviewed some of his own work and tracks he loves."
