Radio Hour with Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie
Bobby Gillespie has been a central figure in some of the most exciting moments in alternative music history. He worked with many great bands of the UK indie scene of the ‘80s, including Altered Images, The Wake, and the Jesus & Mary Chain. With his own group, Primal Scream, Bobby contributed to the foundations of indie-pop before creating a landmark record for the Madchester acid house scene with 1991’s Screamadelica.
Host Elia Einhorn chats with Bobby about writing his new book Tenement Kid, the secrets to a perfect band, and how he’s maintained his sense of wonder about music. The legendary music obsessive then spins a set of formative tunes, including tracks from Bryan Ferry, Thin Lizzy, Johnny Cash and more.
