Radio Hour with The Microphones
Phil Elverum is the multi-hyphenate artist behind experimental indie projects the Microphones and Mount Eerie. He got his start in the fringe indie rock scene of the Pacific Northwest- making his name on the iconic K Records label- and has now been a leading voice of the American underground for more than two decades. Phil's music has singer-songwriter roots while exploring black metal, krautrock, ambient, noise, and other non-traditional sounds.
Host Elia Einhorn spoke with Phil about his pursuit of existential meaning via art, the unfairness of the streaming economy, and his desire to always be doing something new. Then, Phil takes over as guest selector, spinning an eclectic mix with tracks from Bonnie Prince Billy, Lori Goldston and more!
