Sheroes Mixtape Memoir with Shirley Manson

Maybe best known as the iconic frontwoman of the 90s alt rock outfit Garbage, Shirley Manson’s music career started as a child in Scotland, learning a variety of instruments, and later joining local rock bands including Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie (later Angelfish.) From those formative years in Scotland, she joined Garbage, whose eponymous 1995 album established them as a pioneering force of the decade, and the group has been leading rock ever since. On Sheroes Mixtape Memoir Episode 7 - titled Born To Do This - Shirley talks to Carmel about the music that made her - including tracks by Nina Simone, Jackie Lee, and Nirvana - and how she’s found it growing up as a woman in the spotlight.
