Women In Sound with Japanese Breakfast

Michelle Zauner is a songwriter and musician who performs under the name Japanese Breakfast. Last year, within the span of just a few weeks, she released her double Grammy-nominated third full-length album Jubilee, hailed as her most ambitious musical work to date, as well as her debut memoir Crying in H Mart, which chronicles life following the death of her mother and how she navigated the grieving process through reconnecting with the beloved Korean dishes she grew up with. To date, her book has spent over a year on the New York Times bestseller list and will soon be released as a full-length feature film, for which she’s writing the screenplay. In Season 2 Episode 7, Michelle sits down with WinS host Madeleine Campbell to discuss the evolution of her studio production work and the most important creative tools she used to bring Jubilee to life.
